THIRSTY
"There is nothing more impotent (useless) than a creed which lies dormant in your brain and has no influence on your life." Truth unaccepted and disbelieved, is of no value at all. Conscious or unconscious unbelief in God's word is the worst of all sin, and sin carries terrible, awful, and lasting consequences.
So when Jesus says in John 7.37,38 "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." (The key word there is will, not could, or might) Are you thirsty for meaning, for purpose, for significance, for peace and love? That verse starts with an "if"...if you are thirsty, then Jesus invites you to come to Him and drink. The certain result are streams of living water. So if there are no streams, it means that you are either not thirsty, or that you have not come to Jesus to drink.
Meaningful meditation on these words of Jesus has given me some exciting insight as to how to get where I want to be; that is, a person from whom there are flowing 'streams' [read "much fruit"] So here in a few words is the marvelous plan of God for all of us: Thirst, come, drink, believe in Me (that is what we do) --and the 'flow' will happen (that is what God does.).
I don't want to let these words from God lie dormant in my brain, having no influence on my life, or the life of others, and I believe you and I qualify as "any ole bush" --through which God can flow.
